The remote server returns a 5.7.1 error code. • You do not have a recipient policy configured for the domain to which the message is sent. • The recipient has mailbox delivery restrictions enabled. For example, the recipient's mailbox delivery restriction is configured to only receive mail from a specified list. Other mail is rejected. • A distribution list is configured to restrict mail delivery to messages from authenticated users. Mail that is sent from an anonymous session is rejected. • Your Exchange computer is on an unsolicited commercial e-mail list. Your Exchange computer may be listed as an open relay. • The fully qualified domain name (FQDN) name of your Exchange computer ends with ".Local". • A Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 or Windows 2000 Domain Name System (DNS) server receives a non-authoritative response from a root hint or forwarder. Then, the Windows NT 4.0 or Windows 2000 DNS server sends a server failure back to the mail server that queried for a domain that has not been configured with a Mail Exchange (MX) record. This behavior occurs when the Windows NT 4.0 or Windows 2000 DNS server receives a start of authority (SOA) record from a non-authoritative resource. Newer BIND versions cache empty-authoritative responses. Windows DNS servers consider empty-authoritative responses to be referrals. When Windows DNS servers receive these responses, the responses are disregarded. Additionally, the client receives a server failure instead of an SOA record. • The DS2MB metabase key is corrupted.
