This information is only intended to demonstrate that a change occurred in the
TrueCrypt 5.1a Windows installer in July 2008 after the initial release of 5.1a
in March of that same year. Both installers were PGP signed by the TrueCrypt
Foundation.
In March 2008, TrueCrypt 5.1a was released. Then, in July 2008, the Windows
installer was removed and replaced with a different installer that had the
exact same name and version number. At the time, this was unannounced and no
reason was given for the change. The only evidence of the change was a
different PGP signature and a larger installer file. Even though the installer
changed, the publicly available source code did not. Contained here (for the
sake of history) is proof of the changed installers, feel free to download and
verify the discrepancy.
